Latina Gathering Scholarship
Scholarship

One or more scholarships will be awarded annually to a female resident of Berks County who will
be pursuing post-secondary, under graduate education at an accredited institution and whose
ethnic background originates from Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Central
America or South America.
Graduated students are not eligible to apply.

Scholarship applicants shall exhibit a strong commitment to academic achievement or
demonstrate a special talent in the humanities or a vocational trade, and be actively involved in
school and/or community activities. The intent is to acknowledge and encourage those
individuals who have demonstrated a level of personal responsibility necessary to attend and
succeed in a continuing education institution, and who have a financial need. Preference will be
given to individuals attending continuing education institutions located within Berks County, but
individuals furthering their education outside of Berks County will also be considered. The
scholarship is available to high school seniors as well as adults who are furthering their
education.

To apply for the Latina Gathering Scholarship,
please submit:

a completed application
a record of your grades
a short essay
information about the school you will
be attending
a letter of recommendation from an
individual who can provide information
about your character.
The deadline for submission of applications is March 1st.
This is not a renewable scholarship, but past recipients may reapply
each year and will be reconsidered along with all other applicants.
Please note that some of the Berks County colleges might match
awards given from this fund. Additional match money may also be
given from other sources.

A requirement to submit this application is that you must submit your
Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FASFA) form by April 1.
